Teechers

"This is one of the funniest things I have seen in my life ... makes adult humour and schoolboy farce walk hand in hand ... everyone will love this play" Lewisham News

Teechers is currently being revived by Brute Farce for performances at The Brockley Jack from Sept 28th - Oct 14th 2006. Book Now for this strictly limited run!!

Teechers by John Godber, directed by Philip Graham & Rob Crouch, designed by Bo Shaw. Brockley Jack Theatre, Dec 1998 - Jan 1999.

John Godber's riotous classroom comedy seemed both the ideal Christmas show and an ideal vehicle for a return to the much loved Brockley Jack Theatre. Coincidentally it also proved to be the debut for two performers who were to become mainstays of future Brute Farce productions, Katy Slater and Vanessa Morley who, along with Tom Chadwick, formed the cast of one of the most successful shows the company has produced.

The play follows the fortunes of a fledgling drama teacher at a typical British comprehensive school as seen by three of his pupils. Run in with the bullies, a school girl crush and forgetting your games kit provided ample scope for the messing around with soundtrack, lights and set pieces that were beginning to show themselves as the Brute Farce style both through comedy and their more serious work.

Teechers ran from 1 December 1998 to 10 January 1999 and an updated version was resurrected and designed by Full Cry for the millennium in Teechers 2000. Jonathan Waite and Tamara Gatward joined Vanessa Morley, reprising the role of Gail.
