The
Scotsman
A rambunctious performance, gleefully presenting this well known
tale as a black comedy with farcical elements and just a touch of Laurel
and Hardy. Rob Crouch (Burke) and Jonathan Clarkson (Hare) have a wonderful
camaraderie ... a fun take on Edinburgh's dark history.
Hairline
The quality of this pair is apparent from the off ... can only be
described as superb, ... incredibly funny, which makes the more grisly
bits worse to watch, it is rare to see this level of violence being portrayed
so well without being grossly graphic. This isnt to say that Burke
& Hare isnt graphic, as the occasional gasps from the audience
show."

One4Review
"Hilarious...a
well produced humorous play with a touch of local history for visitors"
Three Weeks
"Crouch and Clarkson
work well together as the scheming couple, providing laughs with their
clumsy and drunken endeavours...As the story develops and the pair's methods
become even more grisly, laughter is subdued and replaced by horror."
Time Out (London)
"There
is plenty of fine comic writing her, ably and swiftly performed by Rob
Crouch and Jonathan Clarkson as B and H respectively. The actors are reprising
roles they took in the play's premiere in Edinburgh last year, which is
in fact, home of the original murders. Gemma Sessions' revival is certainly
accomplished."
